The Antique Telescope Society is a truly international society
with close to two hundred members devoted to preserving,
collecting and learning about antique telescopes, historic observatories
and related equipment and materials. There are currently
members in over a dozen countries. While some members are professional
astronomers, historians or librarians, others are
collectors, dealers and colleagues interested in antique and historically
significant instruments and their histories. Virtually all share
some interest in the history of science and astronomy and ATS members are
known for their serious dedication to keeping the
history of the telescope alive.
